Silvestre Martinez was born in Puerto Angel, Oaxaca, Mexico and grew up in a large family of musicians who played chilena, merequetengue and charanga music – Afro-Mexican music from the coast. Having traveled, taught, performed and studied throughout Indonesia, Europe, Asia, Mexico, Cuba and the United States, Silvestre Martinez has performed with the legendary musicians such as Louie Romero, Paquito D’ Rivera, Oscar Stagnaro, Karl Perazzo, Orestes Vilato, Coto Pincheira, Jorge Santana and more.
